Born in upstate New York in 1958, Dave Brefka has been able to witness the best and worst of the second half of the 20th Century. In 1992 At the age of 34 he moved from New York to Los Angeles via Tampa. He traveled Highway 10 in his 1992 Plymouth Sundance with his pet parrot Gauguin by his side behind a Uhaul that contained all of his worldly belongings. He spent two years in Hollywood before running out of paint. He was on his way to Aaron Brothers to get some more and found himself in Oregon.

Dave now lives in Ashland, Oregon at the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains.

He works in his studio every day.
